In 2008 a cooperation between the Dutch Premier League football team from Nijmegen, NAVU and the Foundation Bon Intenshon (FBI) started. FBI, one of its intentions being to promote the positive side of Curacao and its inhabitants, agreed on a sponsorship for the senior NEC team, who now play in a red and green uniform with "Curacao" on the chest. In return, NEC will support NAVU in her ongoing efforts to enhance youth football on the islands and optimize youth talent development. Already three youth players have entered in the NEC Football Academy while continuing their education in the Netherlands. |

Support in local Youth Development
Another element in this project is that NEC will provide support in developing a local talent development program. NEC's Head Education Wilfried Brookhuis came to Curacao to help formulate a Youth Development Plan and to give a number of workshops for the local youth trainers. Wilfried Brookhuis
Three of the local youth trainers, Rudsel Monte, Henry Caldera and Edsel Koster were invited to come to the Netherlands and join the trainers of the NEC Youth Acadamy to experience the NEC apporach to youth development in actual practice. Monte, Caldera and Koster shared their learning experience with the other local trainers in a workshop in Curacao.
