As of 1933
NAVU has been a proud member of the FIFA as of 1933. Nowadays the NAVU consists of 2 districts: Bonaire and Curacao. Bonaire has been a member since 1960. Before this date, the NAVU consisted of Aruba and Curacao only. The board had 9 members: 3 of Aruba, and 6 of Curacao. When Bonaire joined NAVU, the board consisted of 10 members: 3 of Aruba, 6 of Curacao and 1 of Bonaire. The present board consists of 7 members: 2 of Bonaire 5 and of Curacao. 
Morty Maduro The first president was the late Mordy L. Maduro - who later occupied the function of vice-president of the FIFA - being the first and only Antillean FIFA board-member to this date. After his death, he was nominated as a honorary member of the Concacaf. NAVU has had 6 presidents: the late Mordy L. Maduro, the late Walter van Rosberg, the late Jaime Fransisco, Andres Constansia, and former minister of Sports and Education and Culture Sixto Wallé. In 2003 Jean Francisca was elected president of the NAVU.

The Golden Years
The golden age The Forties, Fifties and Sixties were the Golden Age Of curacao' football. The team was very succesfull in the region, participated in the Olypmic Games and won Gold in teh Pan-American Games. PLayers like Ergilio Hato and Pedro Matrona were invited to join the Dutch selection in Holland. Football became the most popular sport on the island. Antillean selection of 1948
